MPA Internship

A professional internship is required as partial fulfillment of the Master of Public Administration degree for those students who have less than three years of professionally related experience in public administration. The internship experience provides opportunities for both graduate students and government agencies, non-profits, and approved private sector organizations. Graduate interns can provide policy analysis, program evaluation, or research support in areas as diverse as environmental, health or social policy, budgeting and personnel processes, or the economic revitalization of a community.

There are several forms that are required as part of the internship experience. The forms included on this website are in MS WORD format. If you have problems or questions, contact Ashley Reynolds in Student Services. The forms are linked individually for convenience.

Internship Opportunities

Internships are highly individualized experiences that not only expose students to a specific agency, organization, or area of interest but also develop the student's professional work experience. As such, we strongly recommend students seek out opportunities that are closely aligned with their career interests. Talk with your faculty advisor for additional guidance.

Occasionally, agencies and organizations send announcements of internship opportunities to CPAP. These announcements are posted on the Internship & Jobs Board at the Thomas Conner House, and a copy is maintained in the Internship binder at Student Services.
