Dr. Mel Dubnick: High Table 2008 Keynote Speaker
| Dr. Mel Dubnick is Professor of Political Science and Director of the MPA program at the University of New Hampshire. Previously, he was professor of Political Science and Public Administration at Rutgers University–Newark. From September 2003 to June 2005, he was Visiting Professor and Senior Fellow at the Queen's University Belfast (QUB) Institute of Governance, Public Policy, and Social Research, where he remains associated as an International Research Fellow.Dr. Dubnick’s research focuses on ethics and accountable governance.

He has authored or co-authored several books and book chapters as well as numerous articles appearing in Public Administration Review,Journal of Public Administration Research and Theory, Administration and Society, International Journal of Public Administration, Public Performance and Management Review, International Journal of Organization Theory and Behavior, and Journal of Public Affairs Education. He was the co-recipient of the 1987 William E. and Frederick C. Mosher Award for “Accountability in the Public Sector: Lessons from the Challenger Tragedy,” published in Public Administration Review. Dr. Dubnick has also been honored with the Thomas R. Dye Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Field of Policy Studies (Policy Studies Organization, 1996), the Aaron Wildavsky Book Award (Policy Studies Organization, 1997), and awards for outstanding academic achievements from the New Jersey (1996) and Metropolitan New York (1991) Chapters of the American Society for Public Administration.
Additionally, Dr. Dubnick is an active member of the public administration and political science communities. He has been an institutional representative in the National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration, where he has served on various site visit teams and committees, including the Commission on Peer Review and Accreditation. Dr. Dubnick also has played leadership roles in the American Society for Public Administration (ASPA) and the American Political Science Association (APSA), where he co-chaired APSAs Task Force on Civic Education in the 21st Century from 1996 to 2001. In 2001, Dr. Dubnick was named to a five-year term as a Fulbright Senior Specialist.
