Registration Costs and Robe/Hood Rental Costs

Important Information Regarding the Registration Process—Please Read THIS ENTIRE PAGE Before Beginning the Registration Process!

When starting the registration process you will need to complete the entire registration process at that time (it will only take approximately 10 minutes). Additionally, you will need to register everyone in your party at the same time. For example, if you are registering for High Table and intend to bring a guest you need to register that guest as a social guest at the time you register yourself. Furthermore, if you do not have academic regalia and intend to participate in the Saturday procession and luncheon, you will need to rent a robe as at the time of your registration. Lastly, please register only once to prevent duplicates. Thank you.

Registration Details

The costs of the High Table Weekend have risen considerably over the past several years while at the same time the registration fees have remained relatively low, especially for students. In the past, the Center for Public Administration & Policy has subsidized the High Table Event heavily, but this is no longer possible. Our new policy, adopted in 2007, is to have the High Table Event pay for itself without substantial financial support from CPAP, allowing funds to be used for other program priorities. The 2008 High Table Committee has decided that:

• we will again have a cash bar at the Friday Night Banquet to lower registration fees.
• during the Friday conference session, an informal roundtable with our keynote speaker will be held at lunchtime, with the cost of lunch covered in the general registration fee.
• we will hold an alumni/alumnae breakfast on Saturday morning followed by paper presentations by our MPA students.

  The registration fees have risen considerably in the past years, especially for full-time students. There will be a limited number of scholarships awarded. The number of the awards will depend entirely on the amount of money that is donated to High Table.

Those who are not full-time students and want to register for the entire High Table Weekend should utilize the “General Registration” option. The “General Registration” fee is $87. This fee covers all events related to the High Table Weekend.

Full-time students at Virginia Tech who want to register for the entire High Table Weekend should utilize the “Full-Time Student Registration” option. The “Full-Time Student Registration” fee is $67 and covers all events related to the High Table Weekend. If you are a student who would like to apply for the High Table Scholarship Program, please review the Scholarship Page. DO NOT REGISTER for High Table until you have completed the High Table Scholarship Application and have received notification from the High Table Committee. If you apply you will receive notification regarding the scholarship before the end of the day on Friday, February 15th. Upon receiving notification of your scholarship you then can register for High Table.

Any individual who registered utilizing “General Registration” or “Full-Time Student Registration” and wishes to bring a social guest to the High Table Banquet on Friday, March 28th may register that guest utilizing the “Social Guest Registration.” The “Social Guest Registration” Fee is $40. This fee covers the cost of the High Table Banquet for the guest.

Individuals who  wish to attend only the Saturday, March 29th events (alumni breakfast, M.P.A. conference panel session, and the High Table Luncheon, during which the keynote speaker will deliver his lecture), should register utilizing “High Table (Saturday) Registration.” The “High Table (Saturday) Registration” Fee is $25. This fee covers the costs of all events on Saturday, March 29th.

Renting Robes and Hoods for the High Table Procession on Saturday, March 29th

All participants in the Saturday High Table Procession to the Luncheon must wear robes and hoods. Individuals may bring their own robe and hood or the regalia can be rented through the High Table website. Rented regalia may be picked up at the Thomas Conner House on Saturday, March 29th
